Here is a list of movies I have never seen– and hope to never see.
As a shallow individual who’s trying to be deep,
I have to be careful what I expose myself to.
Some movies provide depth, but most reinforce shallowness.
My ability to judge movies without seeing them is based on the following system:
1) They show the best three minutes on the various omnipresent promotional trailers.
2) As a general rule, people are MOE-rons, if everyone like it– it can’t be any good.
What makes a bad movie?
1) Simple– no ideas, irony, symbolism, social commentary or sarcasm. What you see is what you get.
2) Predictable– simple story– you can see how it ends before it starts
3) Simple– good people 100% good, vs. evil people 100% bad.
4) Melodramatic– sensational action, extravagant emotions and stereotyped characters
In other words, 93% of all Hollywood movies
5) Bad acting– it seems to me that it’s only acting if you’re acting like someone besides yourself. This is something Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Eastwood, John Wayne Kevin Costner and Julia Roberts have never done it– just to name a few.
When considering the above criteria, the single worst movie ever made was:
Jerry Maguire
